Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 May 2026

Sacred Drift is made by Bradley Tompkins ("we", "the app").

We don't collect anything.

That's the whole policy. The longer version follows for completeness, and because Apple requires a published privacy policy URL.

What the app does on your device

Sacred Drift runs entirely on your iPhone or iPad. It generates designs locally using mathematics. The designs you save, the recipes you share, and the settings you choose all live on your device.

What the app does not do

  • We do not collect or transmit personal information.
  • We do not track usage, sessions, or analytics events.
  • We do not make any network requests. The app works in airplane mode. You can verify this in your iPhone's Settings → Cellular → Sacred Drift and observe that data usage stays at 0 KB.
  • We do not use third-party SDKs, advertising networks, attribution frameworks, or crash-reporting services.
  • We do not read your contacts, photos, location, microphone, or camera.
  • We do not sell or share data, because we have no data to sell or share.

Files Sacred Drift creates on your device

Two kinds of files, both visible only to you:

  • Recipe JSON files in Documents/Favorites, when you tap the heart button to save a scene. Each is about 1 KB.
  • Snapshot PNG images in your iOS Photos app, when you choose Save to Photos from the camera button.

You can delete them at any time. Both are accessible only through apps you authorize via the iOS share sheet.

Sharing features

When you tap Share recipe or save a snapshot to share, the app hands the file to iOS's standard share sheet. From there, you decide whether to send it via Messages, Mail, AirDrop, save to Files, post elsewhere, etc. Anything that happens after iOS hands the file off is governed by the policy of the app or service you chose to share to. Sacred Drift is no longer involved at that point.

Photos library access

When you tap the camera button for the first time, iOS asks whether Sacred Drift can add photos to your library. If you grant it, the app uses the lightweight add-only permission scope, which means Sacred Drift can write a snapshot but cannot read or browse your existing photos. If you decline, snapshots still work via the share sheet — they just don't auto-save to Photos.

Children

Sacred Drift is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. Because we collect no data, the app is also compliant with COPPA and the EU's GDPR position on children's data — there is nothing to collect.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever adds a feature that involves the network — for instance, an opt-in recipe-submission feature in a future version — this policy will be updated before that feature ships, and the updated date at the top of this page will reflect the change.
